Error: Unable to create a shortcut here...(due to damaged 'Start' folder).
Error:
Unable to create a shortcut here -- Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop?
Cause:
If the 'Start' menu folder is damaged or has been removed, the error message appears when an object is dragged to the 'Start' button on the taskbar.
Solution:
Shut down and restart the computer to create and enable a new 'Start' menu.
1) Click the 'Start' button and select 'Shut Down'.
2) Select the 'Restart the Computer' radio button and click 'Yes'.
NOTE: Windows 95 will create a new 'Start' menu folder and enable the 'Start' menu.
3) If shutting down and restarting the computer does not enable the 'Start' menu:
a) Delete the 'Start' menu folder:
1] Open Windows Explorer.
2] Double-click the 'Windows' folder on the hard drive.
3] Click the 'Start Menu' folder and press DELETE.
4] Click 'Yes' to confirm.
5] If prompted, click 'Yes' to confirm deletion of every file.
b) Click the 'Start' button and select 'Shut Down...'.
c) Select the 'Restart the computer' radio button to re-create and enable the 'Start' menu.
